Beyond the News flashes, the rich and diverse stories told by the Israeli films mirror the turbulent and the complex Israeli society as seen through the eyes of the Israeli filmmakers. The intriguing Israeli films have been ahead of all the other art forms in dealing with the most relevant and challenging, and often controversial issues and stories.

The last five years have seen an impressive growth in the numbers of local cinema audiences viewing Israeli films at the cinemas and there has been a tremendous growing interest worldwide in Israeli films which are screened in major festivals and distributed by major companies. These achievements further confirm the potential, creativity and professionalism of the Israeli film industry.

The Israel Film Fund has been a leading contributing partner of these accomplishments.

The Israel Film Fund was established in 1979 as a non-profit organization supported by public funding. The Fund’s aim is to enable the best stories and scripts to be produced and to create the conditions & opportunities for the most talented Israeli Filmmakers, to bring their vision and creativity to the screen.

The Fund's main goal is to facilitate the production of full length Israeli Feature Films produced by Israeli Production Companies, and to support their marketing and distribution in Israel and Worldwide. These goals are achieved by investing in the development of scripts, investing in the production of the films, promoting co productions and by assisting in the distribution of the Films the Fund has supported.

The Funds is proud to have supported more than 300 full length feature films, many of which have become milestones of the Israeli cultural heritage.

In 2008, the Fund played  a major role in promoting the realization of two important developments for the local film industry: "the law for the encouragement of the production of films in Israel" and the conclusion of the co production agreement between the UK and Israel.

The Israel Film Fund will keep on leading and stirring the success of Israeli filmmaking in Israel and is committed to further develop the conditions for a vibrant and creative Israeli Film Industry.
